Stay Green, Stay at Valentina

At Valentina, we care about
Mama Earth.
Are you turning red with frustration as you try to go "green"? So many hotels offer quality, but have absolutely no concern for the environment. As Robbie Williams would say, "What a shame".

Here at Valentina, you get the best of both worlds. Spectacular amenities with an eco-friendly touch. Every luxurious villa is as spacious as a luxury condo, yet is less energy-consuming than the average hotel suite. Valentina has gone through extensive measures to set the bar for sustainability in the hospitality industry. From the structure to the surface, Valentina has made use of environmentally–friendly technology.

Here are some of its green features:

  • HERS rated and approved for energy efficiency
  • Thermal mass concrete on the second floor of Valentina is designed to hold temperature, thus limiting the use of heaters and fireplaces, and reducing energy consumption.
  • Walls use R-19 insulation which are a higher standard of thermal regulation quality than the minimum code requirements.
  • Roof is designed for thermal efficiency with white PVC membrane to maintain an ideal temperature range throughout the structure.
  • Loewen windows, which are made of douglas fir wood (a renewable resource), and are manufactured by sustainable practices. Moreover, they are empirically shown to be among the industry's best in terms of thermal performance.
  • Navien tankless water heater systems, rated at 98% energy-efficiency and are extremely efficient with water. In addition, landscaping is low-consumption, with many drought-resistant succulents.
  • All landscaping is on a self-monitoring drip system, and pavers in the exterior parking lot allow for clean drainage.
  • GE Profile™ Energy Star appliances in the kitchen (i.e. dishwasher), and in the utility room (i.e washer and dryer).

At Valentina, we believe in saving our natural resources. Through practical solutions and sustainable means, we are doing what we can to be a truly green hotel. We seek to set an example for other hotels in Central Coast (and California) hospitality industry. Together, we can save our fragile planet.

Why a Corporate Camping Trip

Tee Off at the Annual Classic California Golf Tournament

photo
Luckily, this Scotsman will not
be competing at the event.

Move over Scotland! We may not have a golf course at our airport, but we do have some fantastic golf tournaments. On September 15, the Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce will host its Annual Classic California Golf Tournament at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course. There will be a shot-gun start at 12:00 provided there are no birds in the way.

Here are some of the highlights:
>Golf, Cocktail Party, Dinner at Cypress Pavilion
>Multiple golf club prizes given away
>Miller Light & Corona Girls in attendance
>Special exhibition by Peter Candela
>Out-Drive the Pro Contest!

Will Pismo Beach Mayor Shelly Higginbotham show up the other two mayors of the Tri-Cities with putting supremacy, . . . or embarass herself silly? We won't know the answer until the 15th when Pismo Beach history will be made.

And if you're coming from out of town, be sure to stay at Valentina Inn & Villas, Pismo's newest and finest vacation rentals.

I Left My Heart in San Francisco . . . And Then Got Married in Pismo!

Celebrate Your Vows of Matrimony
in Pismo Beach
In today's world, it's almost become banal to have your life match the words of a song. With the number of lyric-obsessive people that live among us, nothing ever truly seems, well, . . . original.

Break the mold . . . and do so in style by getting married in the Central Coast's secret city of love- Pismo Beach, CA. In days of old, Pismo Beach may have been known for its clams and butterflies, but times have changed, and Pismo's other little secret has escaped into the world through little (but widely read) trustworthy outlets like the Valentina Inn & Villas blog.

Pismo Beach is the land of wine and waves . . . a place where couples can enjoy a more relaxed sort of romance. And as any romantic knows, true love should make your heartbeat accelerate . . . not the rush hour traffic surrounding you. Here in Pismo, you will rediscover the real reason you fell in love with your soulmate . . . those times when you were able to spend time with him or her without all the other pressures of life making you uneasy.

And what better venue to celebrate your new vows than Valentina Inn & Villas, centrally located less than 2 blocks from the beach. Spectacular sunsets await you as you sip wine and reflectively look onward into your future together (or at least pretend to do so). Is there anything more romantic?

"I got married in Pismo Beach" . . . now, really, how many people can say that? Your wedding may be the most important event of your life. Make it a Pismo Beach wedding!

A Piece of Pismo Beach History

Tent City . . . When Pismo Beach
was first "discovered"

Pismo Beach is full of history, as any Pismo local will attest. Regardless of developments and changes since the pioneering days of old, Pismo has always kept its character, and had its share of "characters." We are town of class, but also of "small town" charm and hospitality, and these features have been preserved through the ages. This positive transformation of Pismo Beach has been surreally captured on the walls of Valentina Inn & Villas through our hard-to-find historic photos.

In our endless efforts to preserve the rich history of Pismo Beach and it's surrounding areas, we have researched, found, decorated our rooms with one-of-a-kind historic photos of Pismo Beach. In addition, every room is dedicated to one of the most important movers n' shakers of Pismo's past.

From Lucille Dias (the owner of the original Pismo Beach Inn) to Elizabeth Jatta (first City Clerk) of Pismo Beach) to John Price (first Pismo Beach settler when it was still Rancho Pismo), our suites tell the story of a little city that could. From a dusty town beginnings to its current status as a beachy retreat destination (mentioned even by Bugs Bunny), history lives on through our classic photos.

Come celebrate Pismo Beach history today at Valentina Inn & Villas, and enjoy Pismo Beach today. Call us at 805-773-1234, or reserve online at valentinapismobeach.com/reservations.html!

Will & Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
Fans of the Valentina? . . . You may never know.
Due to privacy reasons, we are unable to disclose whether or not the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge actually stayed at Valentina Inn & Villas of Pismo Beach. And since the British tabloid "News of the World" has recently closed, unfortunately you will never know.

But instead of worrying about Will and Kate's California holiday, why not worry instead about something more important . . . like your own holiday! Will and Kate enjoyed their California getaway . . . now it's time to worry about your own getaway . . . perhaps without the high tea.

And Valentina is here to offer the "royal" treatment. Valentina is more than just a hotel room. At our accommodations, you will experience a new standard of luxury. Complete with fully equipped gourmet kitchens with stainless steel appliances, living rooms with state of the art entertainment centers, dining areas, and spacious tiled balconies are bound to offer you the perfect "Classic California" vacation.

As always, spectacular sunsets come at no charge, . . . as Will and Kate may or may not know . . . from when they may or may not have stayed at the Valentina Inn & Villas.

New SUMMER SPECIAL: Book 4 Nights, Get the 5th Night FREE

There Are Better Ways
to Spend the Last Days of Vacation
Like By Staying More Time at Valentina

Vacations always have a tendency to end too quickly. You arrive at a hotel, check in, and before you know it, you're already handing over the keys. Why? Because long stays usually cost a great deal of money and incentives usually don't make it worthwhile to stay an extra couple nights. . . until now.

At Valentina Inn & Villas, we are making it easier for you to stay longer. Instead of booking the three night minimum at Valentina and going home before you even finish unloading the car, you now have the perfect incentive to stay that extra night. Now, whenever you Book a 4 Night Stay at Valentina, you will receive one extra night FREE. That is a discount of up to $550.

So, rather than spending that extra vacation time on your living room armchair, spend it at the beach as you stay in one of our luxurious, European style villas. Our numerous amenities include full gourmet kitchens complete with stainless steel appliances, living rooms with state-of-the-art entertainment centers, dining rooms, and more! Garage Parking is secure and complimentary, and high-speed internet is free as well.

Take advantage of this special before it goes away. Reserve Now at 805-773-1234 or online at ValentinaPismoBeach.com/reservations.html.

Arroyo Grande Celebrates 100 Years

Arroyo Grande Centennial
Celebration

If you've ever stayed in Pismo Beach and had an inkling for antique shopping or historical exploration, then you may be familiar with the cute nearby town of Arroyo Grande. Well, in case you didn't hear, Arroyo Grande is celebrating it's centennial anniversary of incorporation. Yes, that's right, Arroyo Grande is 100 years old!

In commemoration there will be a parade, themed “Celebrating a Century of Community,” which begins at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the intersection of East Grand Avenue and Halcyon Road. The parade will showcase the Grand Marshals, floats (centennial themed), family oriented, businesses (past and present), agriculture/farming, motor vehicles (antique and vintage, custom cars, trucks, tractors, bicycles), elected officials (past and present), marching units, military bands, community and civic organizations, equestrians, churches, sports, educational, alumni groups – the list is endless!

This fantastic parade in downtown Arroyo Grande will likewise feature local marching bands like that of Judkins Middle School. Indeed, our very own Valentina Guest Services Representative, Matthew Pringle (Age 13) will be featured as lead bass (drummer). That alone is enough reason to gaze upon this marvelous sight to behold.

The Centennial Parade will travel east from Halcyon Road and East Grand Avenue toward the Village, ending at South Mason and Nelson Streets. Parade–goers can find their spot anywhere along the parade route, as the route will be closed to traffic during the parade.

The City of Arroyo Grande began in 1867 as a political township from land owned by Francisco Zeba Branch. Due to the prime agricultural soil, mild coastal climate and the establishment of the Pacific Coast Railway, Arroyo Grande quickly grew and was incorporated as a City on July 10, 1911.

Over the past 100 years Arroyo Grande has maintained its unique character and community spirit. It's agricultural heritage and historic Village area as well as its cultural amenities and strong business foundations make Arroyo Grande a desirable and diverse city that is loved by its residents and visitors alike.

As a hotel full of history, Valentina Inn & Villas likes to support the history of Pismo Beach and nearby towns. For more details on how we celebrate local history, check out http://ValentinaPismoBeach.com/history.html. For reservations, send us a message at http://valentinapismobeach.com/reservations.html.
