February 2 is California Western Monarch Day

Attention nature lovers and general butterfly enthusiasts: Western Monarch Day 2013 is happening Feb. 2 at the Pismo State Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove. This event will feature butterfly talks and educational booths for adults, as well as art activities for children. This is a great opportunity (or excuse) to admire the thousands of Monarch butterflies hanging in huge clusters from the eucalyptus and pine trees in the grove.

Pismo Beach's Monarch Butterfly Grove will remain open through the month of February from 10am-4pm with docents providing daily talks at 11am and 2pm.

Grover Beach Holiday Parade Dec. 8

The first Saturday in December (December 8) brings the annual Holiday Parade to Grover Beach.

This morning event is great for the entire family to enjoy and perfect to get you into the Christmas spirit. The parade takes place on West Grand Avenue and is followed by Santa's Workshop Art and Craft Faire.

Mark your calendars now and plan on bringing your lawn chairs to the streets of Pismo Beach for the 34th Annual Pismo Beach Marching Band Review and Drumline Competition on Saturday, November 03, 2012 starting at 8:45am. Come support music programs from all around the state of California, expecially the local Judkins "Golden Panther" Marching Band.

These kids are pretty good and thrive off your support. As music programs get slashed across the state of California, it's great to see some hope for the future.

Bring the whole family! The Pismo Beach Clam Festival Parade is starts Saturday, Oct. 20 at 10 am! Come watch the Judkins Marching Band and other wonderful performances. No tickets required for admission!
You can catch the parade on Dolliver and Price Street...so bring your lawn chairs and thermos and check out this fine spectacle!

All these things will probably make you hungry, which is why there is a Clam Chowder Cookoff on Saturday from noon to 2. Finally, bring the kids to the beach Sunday from 12-1 for a clam dig!
