Mission San Luis Obispo - A Must-See for Every Traveler

Are you on a mission? Or do you simply wish to view some of the California missions?

Whatever the case may be, Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa is a "must-see." Located in Downtown San Luis Obispo on Monterey Street, the Mission San Luis Obispo was originally founded on Sept. 1, 1772. The church is unusual in its design in that its combination of belfry and vestibule isn't found anywhere else among the 21 California missions.

Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa

Check out its living history by visiting their museum. Learn more about the Chumash Indians and the Spanish missionaries. The colorful Spanish history of the California missions is such a defining part of California missions that it's hard to miss.

And while you're visiting the Central Coast, be sure to stay at Pismo Beach's premier accommodations- Valentina Inn  & Villas. Each of our villas are dedicated to a mover 'n shaker of Pismo's past, complete with historic photos.

Reserve now at http://ValentinaPismoBeach.com/reservations.html or by calling us at 805-773-1234/877-SEE-PZMO!

Celebrate the Christmas Season in Pismo Beach!

Santa . . . No Stranger to the Joy of Vino
Celebrate With Him!
The Christmas holiday is a time for rejoicing and celebration. And with any celebration of this magnitude, wine is a must. Why do you suppose Santa's cheeks are rosy?

Many local wineries in the Edna Valley are in the midst of wonderful tasting celebrations to commemorate this special occasion and are worth a visit. Check out sanluisobispocounty.org to find out their addresses and holiday schedules.

In addition, if you're looking for the perfect gift for your special someone, tickets to the Great American Melodrama are your solution. These performances are witty and entertaining, and always end with a good old-fashioned vaudeville show.

Their most popular show of the year is a three-part evening! First, celebrate the redemption of Scrooge in a heart-warming tale of holiday magic, their one-act version of Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol. Then, laugh yourself silly at the zany characters in their fractured fairy-tale opera, and finally you can delight in the music of the season in their unique holiday vaudeville revue, a wonderful gift of song, dance and comedy! This show is a very special family tradition designed to bring a year's worth of smiles to you and your loved ones in a great musical and theatrical experience! The Great American Melodrama is located at 1863 Front St. in Oceano.

And while you're in Pismo Beach, be sure to reserve your suite at the Valentina Inn & Villas-- the best way to spend the holidays with family and friends.

Valentina... Your Villa Awaits.

Deck the Halls at Valentina, Fa La La La La...

"Snow, Snow, Snow" isn't What You'll Find in Pismo
But Then Again, We Have the Beach!
Bing Crosby sung about them. Chicago sung about them. Even Michael Bublé sung about them.

White Christmas's are so cliched.

Skip the banality, and come to Pismo instead. Valentina Inn & Villas comfortably accommodates large families and groups of friends in large suites. And, all of our ocean view suites have fireplaces, so you can pretend to roast chestnuts on an open fire as you listen to the harmonies of Nat Cole King over your Hi-Fi Stereo system.

A memorable Christmas dinner doesn't always have to take place in your home. Why go through all that trouble to clean up the house while guests just mooch off of your culinary genius? Save the time and the trouble, and host it in a Valentina suite instead. Our 3 bedroom suites accommodate 8!

Celebrate the magic of Christmas in Pismo Beach this year. Reserve your Valentina villa today!

Santa Claus: Comin' to the Central Coast for a Little Sun
There are plenty of incredible sights to behold on the Central Coast, particularly in San Luis Obispo County, but during the winter season, perhaps one of the most special is Santa Claus. Indeed, St. Nicholas likes to take a bit of a break from the chilly North Pole, and enjoy some time in sunny California. Don't judge him... after all, even the birds fly south for the winter.

Come take this opportunity to visit Santa's House in the Plaza on your trip to Pismo Beach! Mission Plaza is only a short drive away, and Santa is eager to meet everyone! He will be around from November 26 to December 24.

Every child that visits with Santa will receive a candy cane, toy and coloring book at no charge.  It is $5 to take your own picture with Santa, $7 for a souvenir framed photo and $10 to take your own photo and receive a souvenir framed photo.

Reports have not yet been confirmed as to whether or not Mrs. Claus will be joining her husband. However, this is an opportunity that is not to be missed by visitors and locals alike.

Grab Your Dancing Shoes: Jubilee by the Sea Begins Friday!

Show Off Your Shoulder Spin

The Central Coast's largest dixie, jazz and swing event is coming to Pismo Beach October 28-30. Jubilee by the Sea is one of the best opportunities to attend some great concerts and show your moves as well.

Twenty swingin' bands will get you up off your feet and cause you to uncontrollably shake it like it's 1949. The event is held for three days at multiple venues, including the Pismo Beach Veteran's Memorial Building, Marie Calendars banquet room and tents located at the St Anthony's Fair Ground and "on the beach" at the Addie Street parking lot. Buses run continuously to get you to all of the venues for another great show! Locally catered food and drinks are available at all locations. Head nodding is accepted, though dancing is encouraged.

The question is: are you ready to boogie?

Pismo Beach: The Classic California Beach Experience

Why Los Angeles May Not Be the Best
Place to Do Your Vacation

California . . . The land of sunny beaches and incredible wines.

A getaway to the beaches of Los Angeles sounds nice. But Southern California's hot . . . really hot. And traffic is always congested. And ... no wineries nearby. What kind of vacation is that?

San Francisco? Well, the pinnacle of the Golden State is not always so golden when it comes to the weather either. The "Frisco Bay" is typically cold and foggy, even in the summer months. And unless you wanna drive all the way to Napa or Sonoma, ... no wineries nearby. Again, what kind of vacation is that?

The solution: choose the middle ground Pismo Beach, CA (halfway between Los Angeles & San Francisco ... where the weather is ideal, and the wine is plentiful (and of high quality). Pismo Beach provides the perfect California getaway for the tourist that just wants some wine and waves without all the snags. With over 100 local wineries in close proximity (the Edna Valley is just right around the corner), and perfect weather all the time, Pismo Beach is the beach town destination for you and your family (and friends!).

And at Valentina, Pismo's Newest Accommodations, we make family vacations easier than ever before. Our vacation rental size suites accommodate 4-8, and include full gourmet kitchens (so you don't have to eat out every night), living rooms with entertainment centers, washer/dryer, and more. Live the Pismo dream this summer!

Reserve Now at 805-773-1234 or at http://valentinapismobeach.com/reservations.html!

Arroyo Grande Celebrates 100 Years

Arroyo Grande Centennial
Celebration

If you've ever stayed in Pismo Beach and had an inkling for antique shopping or historical exploration, then you may be familiar with the cute nearby town of Arroyo Grande. Well, in case you didn't hear, Arroyo Grande is celebrating it's centennial anniversary of incorporation. Yes, that's right, Arroyo Grande is 100 years old!

In commemoration there will be a parade, themed “Celebrating a Century of Community,” which begins at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the intersection of East Grand Avenue and Halcyon Road. The parade will showcase the Grand Marshals, floats (centennial themed), family oriented, businesses (past and present), agriculture/farming, motor vehicles (antique and vintage, custom cars, trucks, tractors, bicycles), elected officials (past and present), marching units, military bands, community and civic organizations, equestrians, churches, sports, educational, alumni groups – the list is endless!

This fantastic parade in downtown Arroyo Grande will likewise feature local marching bands like that of Judkins Middle School. Indeed, our very own Valentina Guest Services Representative, Matthew Pringle (Age 13) will be featured as lead bass (drummer). That alone is enough reason to gaze upon this marvelous sight to behold.

The Centennial Parade will travel east from Halcyon Road and East Grand Avenue toward the Village, ending at South Mason and Nelson Streets. Parade–goers can find their spot anywhere along the parade route, as the route will be closed to traffic during the parade.

The City of Arroyo Grande began in 1867 as a political township from land owned by Francisco Zeba Branch. Due to the prime agricultural soil, mild coastal climate and the establishment of the Pacific Coast Railway, Arroyo Grande quickly grew and was incorporated as a City on July 10, 1911.

Over the past 100 years Arroyo Grande has maintained its unique character and community spirit. It's agricultural heritage and historic Village area as well as its cultural amenities and strong business foundations make Arroyo Grande a desirable and diverse city that is loved by its residents and visitors alike.

As a hotel full of history, Valentina Inn & Villas likes to support the history of Pismo Beach and nearby towns. For more details on how we celebrate local history, check out http://ValentinaPismoBeach.com/history.html. For reservations, send us a message at http://valentinapismobeach.com/reservations.html.

Celebrating “Old Glory” . . . Pismo Beach Style

Yes . . . It's that time of year again. A time where tourists and residents alike will gaze mindlessly at the night sky as Pismo Beach finds itself lit up in its full pyrotechnic splendor. Indeed  . . . the 4th of July Fireworks Celebration-- Pismo Beach's claim to fame (up there with Pismo Bob's Hardware)-- is quickly approaching.

Year after year, this annual Pismo Beach tradition makes the famous firework shows of Disneyland and NYC look like a spontaneous blast of Roman Candles.* As Valentina staff member (and Judkins Middle School 8th grader) Matthew Pringle says, "It's kind of a big deal."

With this extravagant celebration so close to Valentina Inn & Villas, Pismo Beach's newest resort, the choice for accommodations becomes almost too simple. Why not take the best seat in the house right there on your spacious Valentina balcony. Kick your feet up, sip on some local wine, and share some good times with your family or friends without getting trampled by all the crowds near the Pismo Pier.

And while you're at Valentina, enjoy our other fine amenities: a full gourmet kitchen, a living room with a state-of-the-art entertainment center, hi-fidelity surround sound system (to play your favorite patriotic anthems), and all the signature appliances you need to make your stay convenient and comfortable.

In addition, we offer secure, complimentary garage parking (always a problem for 4th of July attendees), and free, high-speed internet.

Our number of available suites is quickly diminishing, so reserve now at Valentina Inn & Villas today by calling 805-773-1234 or by visiting the reservations page of our website at http://ValentinaPismoBeach.com/reservations.html!

Valentina . . . Your Villa Awaits!

*Note: the fireworks analogy may be an exaggeration. Nonetheless, the show is quite spectacular.
